1976 Lynn J. Battle, ’76 MS, retired after 30 years of service to the Pasadena Independent School District. 1977 Debra Lynn Blesener, ’77 BA, is the registrar
at Fort Bend Baptist Academy in Alfred N. Callahan III, ’77 BS, is a senior consultant for Mustang Engineering LP in Houston. Wanda S. Copeland, ’77 MA, is the assistant principal at Alvin Junior High School in Alvin ISD. 1978 Christine T. Callahan, ’78 MA, is the professional development school supervisor for secondary school interns for Clear Creek ISD. Brenda Caro, ’78 MA, was selected as Texas City ISD’s Teacher of the Year. Donald R. Puddy, ’78 MBA, has been inducted into the Oklahoma Aviation and Space Hall of Fame. 1979 Robin Elizabeth Blackburn, ’79 MS, teaches third grade at South Lake Carroll ISD. 1980 1981 Frank B. Martin Jr., ’81 BS, is a financial consultant for A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc. 1982 1983 Sonia M. Berrocal, ’83 BBA, is the director of finance for the insurance commissioner in Puerto Rico. 1984 Sue Chapman, ’84 MS, was appointed as coordinator of elementary math at Clear Creek ISD. Gregory C. Johnson, ’84 BBA, had his second book, “The Saban Way,” published by Stone Tablet Press. 1985 Michael Olson, ’85 MS, and Linda Flores Olson welcomed a daughter, Maya Sierra, on April 21. Garrold Parratt, ’85 MBA, was named one of Houston
Business Journal’s 2004 D’Lisa Simmons, ’85 BBA, is governor of the Rotary International District 5890 for the rotary centennial year, 2004-05. She is the district’s first female governor. Simmons is also an attorney. 1986 Ann Walker Cochran, ’86 MS, is a nursing counselor at College of the Mainland. Michael Jez, ’86 BS, was appointed as city manager for Webster, Texas. Jane Martyn, ’86 MA, ’83 BBA, joined Texas A&M University-Commerce as the new assistant director of alumni relations. Cheryl W. Yount, ’86 MA, ’79 BS, received a doctorate of psychology at Southern California University. 1987 Jackie A. Delafose, ’87 BS, is the assistant principal at Wheat Ridge Middle School in Wheat Ridge, Colo. Dorothy A. Fontaine, ’87 BA, teaches eighth-grade literature and composition at Wakefield School in The Plains, Va. Teresita Hernandez, ’87 MA, ’80 MS, is owner
of Hernandez Engineering Inc., a business that was recently named to the

Church in La Porte, Texas. 1988 Dan Bouchelle, ’88 BS, is the new pulpit minister at Central Church of Christ. Diana L. Stockton, ’88 MBA, is an accounting software consultant for eVision Systems. Patricia B. Neisner, ’88 BS, works with Adult Protective Services in Harris County. 1989 Maxine L. Derrer, ’89 MA, is the school media coordinator for Wakefield ISD, N.C. Jill Marie Landis, ’89 BS, is owner of an African imports business, Zanzibar Connection. Shannon K. McClendon, ’89 BS, has been appointed to the Texas Board of Professional Engineers. Odette Bolano Merceron, ’89 MS, was named chief executive officer at Doctors Hospital of Dallas. 1990 Terry Milstead, ’90 MS, ’89 Secondary Teaching Certificate, ’83 BA, is a 2004 Houston ISD Teacher of the Year finalist from Stevenson Middle School. 1991 Pete A. Gracia, ’91 MS, is a lecturer in mathematics at Texas A&M University at Galveston. Alfred Ray, ’91 MS, ’86 BS, is the principal
of Mansfield Timberview High School Debra E. Bailey, ’91 MS, teaches English at Brazosport College in Lake Jackson. James G. Springfield, ’91 MS, received the American College of Healthcare Executives’ 2004 Robert S. Hudgens Memorial Award. 1992 Mitzi Tull, ’92 MS, ’85 BS, was named Texas Elementary Principals’ and Supervisors’ Association District IV Assistant Principal of the Year. Also, Tull has accepted the position of Liberty Elementary School principal in Liberty ISD. 1993 Travis Roderick, ’93 MHA, is the chief operating officer for New Lake Pointe Medical Center. 1994 Kimberly Brouillard, ’94 MS, was appointed assistant
principal at League City Sofia Cano, ’94 MA, received her doctorate in counseling psychology from UH in December 2003. Arlene Fisher, ’94 MA, is the director of behavioral
health Ann Johnson, ’94 MA, was featured in “A Woman’s Work is…,” a collection of art from seven female artists at the Community Artists’ Collective in Houston. Her work, “Hoop Dreamin’,” is a series of mixed-media pieces that depicts the aspirations of children who dream of escaping poverty through basketball. Rissie Owens, ’94 MA, was renamed to the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. 1995 Karen Hollas, ’95 MBA, was named as Furmanite America southern regional sales manager. Susan Myers, ’95 MS, was promoted from Northside Elementary principal to director of elementary education for the Texas City ISD. Cindy Smedstad, ’95 BA, recently welcomed a daughter, Hannah Elizabeth. 1996 Scott Marler, ’96 BA, is assistant editor of The Journal of Southern History. His article, “Fables of the Reconstruction: Reconstruction of the Fables,” was published in The Journal of the Historical Society. 1997 Carolyn Bardin, ’97 BA, joined the history faculty of Miller Intermediate School in Pasadena ISD. She was also named the 2004 History Alumni of the Year by the UHCL history department in the School of Human Sciences and Humanities. Chuck F. Hall Jr., ’97 MBA, has been appointed executive vice president and treasurer of Southwest Bancorporation of Texas Inc. Denise Manley, ’97 BA, is an attorney with Thompson & Knight LLP. 1999 Elizabeth Ortiz, ’99 MS, has been appointed as principal for Pomeroy Elementary School in Pasadena ISD. Timi Radicioni, ’99 BA, is coach of freshmen volleyball at Clear Creek High School in Clear Creek ISD. 2000 Chris Bolyard, ’00 MS, is an assistant principal at Park View Intermediate in Pasadena ISD. Manuel Garza, ’00 MS, was appointed as assistant principal at Clear Creek High School. Kristi Schober, ’00 MA, is a Peace Corps volunteer in the African nation of Malawi. 2001 Michelle Cefaratti, ’01 BA, was selected as the winner of Houston Center for Contemporary Craft’s Inaugural Studio Program. Mike Fincke, ’01 MS, achieved his first space flight on the Expedition 9 in April. The NASA astronaut served as flight engineer and science officer for a six-month mission on the international space station. David Carl Oswald, ’01 MBA, is a flight controller for United Space Alliance. 2002 Jason Craig Brown, ’02 BA, married Ashley Sanchez on Dec. 20, 2003. Ricky Allen Lloyd Jr., ’02 BS, married Katrina C. Compton on Sept. 20, 2003. Robert O. Marlin, ’02 MA, was invited to speak at the 2004 Texas State Historical Society Meeting in Austin, Texas. Patti Nesrsta, ’02 MS, is a teacher at Clear Brook High School. She teaches Community-Oriented Science and Mathematics Opportunities for Students, a program that introduces students to the information technology, petrochemical, aerospace and biomedical fields. Nesrsta wrote the curriculum for COSMOS’ information technology and aerospace components. 2003 Johnnie W. Garza, ’03 BBA, married Teri A. Young on July 19, 2003. Garza works in marketing for Jiffy Lube. Brady Hutchison, ’03 MA, is assistant editor of the Jefferson Davis Papers at Rice University. Karen Robinson, ’03 BA, teaches 10th grade world history at Lovelady High School in Huntsville, Texas. In Memory Elisa Emma Rico Alvarez, ’81 MS, ’79 BS, passed away in October 2003.
